Welcome from the President

Howdy y bienvenidos!
My name is Bonnie Bustos-RĂos, and I am beyond excited to serve as your 2013-2014 President. I currently work as a Senior Academic Advisor in the Department of Teaching, Learning and Culture in the College of Education and Human Development. I have the great privilege of advising Interdisciplinary Studies majors working on elementary and middle school teacher certification. Having an impact on the lives of future educators is an absolute privilege, and I am so glad I get to work with such amazing students. I also advise two student organizations, the Council for Minority Student Affairs (CMSA) and Aggie Fish Club (AFC). Working with college students has always been a great passion of mine, and I’m so energized by the great work that our Aggies do!
I first want to thank and congratulate our PHN members for an incredible year! I am looking forward to a great summer and an incredible upcoming academic year. The 2013-2014 Executive Board is eager and ready to plan some great programs for you this summer and next year. We owe the success of our programs, including our now signature Storytelling Program, to the dedication of our great members. I look forward to continue seeing some familiar faces, and even meeting great new professionals throughout the year. Please do not hesitate to contact me or any of the board members with any ideas or questions you may have.

My main goal for the upcoming year is for PHN to continue offering our members and Hispanic/Latin@ staff and faculty around campus more opportunities for fellowship and networking, as well as continued professional development opportunities, opportunities to explore and learn more about our culture, have fun, and of course, support and celebrate one another.

I look forward to meeting you if I haven’t already. Welcome to our familia!

Saludos,

Bonnie
